Photoelectric Effect | Concepts and Applications

In the blog post we discussed about photoelectric effect which is a phenomenon of electron ejection from a material that absorbs electromagnetic radiations.
The effect was first observed by Heinrich Hertz in 1887 and later explained by Albert Einstein in 1905.
According to Einstein's explanation, light carries energy in discrete packets called photons. When photons strike the surface of a material, they can transfer their energy to electrons in the material. If the energy of the photons is sufficiently high, it can overcome the binding energy holding the electrons within the material and eject them, creating an electric current.
Here we discuss some mathematics on photoelectric Effect as well.
Applications:
The photoelectric effect is important because it provided evidence for the particle-like behavior of light (as photons) and led to the discovery of the concept of quantization, where energy is transferred in discrete units rather than continuously. This effect is utilized in various applications such as solar panels, photoelectric cells, and digital cameras.
