Potential Energy Curve and discussion of motion Problems

The problems are based on:

 1. Sketch the potential.

2. Discuss the motion at various values of x.

3. Is motion bounded or unbounded?

4. What are the equilibrium values?

5. Are the equilibrium values stable or unstable?

Steps involved:

1. Eliminate the constant involved.

2. For this we suppose new potential in terms of y.

3. Take d distance common.

4. Put y=x/d.

5. Take derivatives w.r.t new potential and put the derivative equal to zero.

6. Find values of y.

7. Back substitute.

8. Draw the plot.

9. Check for bounded, unbounded and stable, unstable motion.
